In October 2025 Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn urged state‑owned Petrovietnam and its partners to accelerate implementation of the Block B – O Mon gas‑to‑power project. The project includes offshore gas fields, a 430 km pipeline and a downstream power complex. The government demanded that offshore installation work begin in 2025, drilling start by the second quarter of 2026, and first gas be delivered no later than the third quarter of 2027. Feasibility studies for the associated O Mon 3 thermal power plant were also to be completed by mid‑October 2025, and the development plan for the Blue Whale gas project submitted for approval in October 2025.
These directives signal the state’s determination to resolve delays and ensure energy security. For service providers like HT Energy, the accelerated timeline translates into earlier demand for pre‑commissioning, leak‑testing, flushing and other services. The Block B project’s midstream segment alone involves installing hundreds of kilometres of offshore pipeline, requiring extensive flooding, cleaning, hydrostatic testing, dewatering and nitrogen packing. Upstream wells and subsea facilities will need N₂/He leak‑testing, while the O Mon power plants will undergo hot oil flushing and water jetting during commissioning. HT Energy’s track record on similar projects positions the company as a partner capable of supporting the condensed schedule and ensuring that quality and safety standards are met.
